Plan Creation

Plan Creation

While the City of Bridgeport and our consultants - Fitzgerald and Halliday - wrote Plan Bridgeport’s content, the Plan’s ideas come from the people of Bridgeport. Plan Bridgeport was a team effort that started with extensive public outreach. Over a period of 5 months, we heard from over 1,500 residents, visitors and stakeholders. The outreach strategy reached beyond just the most engaged Bridgeporters, as staff walked through the summer’s biggest festivals getting feedback from community members of all ages and from all parts of the city. We heard from over 1,000 community members who filled out online surveys and we committed to a digital information campaign that resulted in over 3,000 individual website visits and hundreds of additional interactions on social media platforms.

We also held 6 thematic community meetings throughout the city, meeting people in their own neighborhoods, and had group conversations with about 40 businesses, non-profits and other Bridgeport organizations. As we wrote the Plan, we held monthly meetings with a Steering Committee of community members, who gave us regular feedback and helped to mold the Plan into what it is.

Below, you will find images from the events that we attended, as well as presentations and meeting summaries from our public engagement activities.
